CARTER WILLIAMS JOINS JHR DEVELOPMENTS FOR BRITISH F4

CATEGORIES:

JHR Developments have unveiled Carter Williams as their second signing for the 2019 F4 British Championship certified by FIA – powered by Ford EcoBoost season.

The American graduates into Britain’s FIA-sanctioned Formula 4 series off the back of a promising rookie campaign in the BRSCC’s National FF1600 Championship, in which he established himself as an ever-present in the top ten and secured a first podium finish in the final round at Donington Park.

Prior to that, a superlative run of form in the Formula Car Challenge state-side marked the 20-year old out as ‘one to watch’, claiming 26 podium finishes from 28 starts en route to the National titles in 2016 and 2017, also taking the Regional honours in the latter.

JHR once again underlined their status as one of the ‘teams to beat’ in British F4 last time out, claiming four race victories and a further eight podium finishes as Ayrton Simmons was crowned Vice-Champion, and taking third overall in the Teams’ Cup.

Williams – who will partner the returning Josh Skelton – becomes the eleventh driver to commit to Ford’s winning formula in 2019, which once again enjoys a unique position as the sole single-seater support category on the UK’s premier motorsport package – the British Touring Car Championship.

That in itself guarantees capacity trackside crowds exceeding 30,000 spectators at most events, as well as millions more through ITV Sport’s live, free-to-air television coverage and highlights packages.

“I am completely ecstatic to be competing in British F4 this season and with such a top team as JHR Developments,” enthused Williams.

“It is an honour to be able to compete in one of the most prestigious and competitive FIA F4 Championships in the world.  Having a year of British National Formula Ford 1600 under my belt has fully prepared me to come into British F4 fighting for podiums, wins, and the championship.

“I cannot thank Steven Hunter and the JHR team enough for this incredible opportunity.”

Team Principal Steven Hunter was equally pleased with his team’s new acquisition and looks forward to another strong campaign in the Ford EcoBoost-powered category.

“Everybody at JHR Developments is thrilled to have signed Carter for the upcoming F4 British Championship season,” said Hunter.

“He’s shown fantastic ability in other categories and we’re confident he’ll be able to replicate that once again with our support.

“We enjoyed a fantastic year in 2018 – but we’d like to go one better and take the title this time around. Between Carter and Josh [Skelton], I think we have a really good chance and I can’t wait to get the new season underway at Brands Hatch.”
