FUN CUP FINALE LEADS BRSCC OULTON PARK AUTUMN VISIT ON SATURDAY
Oulton Park in Cheshire is where the BRSCC started its truncated 2020 season back in July in wet and murky conditions and now three months later we return to Cheshire to conclude the North Western Centre’s portion of the calendar this year with a second visit to the International circuit layout. Two championships in attendance will conclude here, while another makes its second appearance after beginning a few weeks ago.
The headline act will be the 4-hour finale for the Fun Cup Championship, which has already run four races and is ready to wrap up with a fifth on Saturday. It looks as though it’s going to be a showdown between points leaders Team 7 WASPP, Axiametrics, UVio, Make Happen Racing/ 2 Rent Dominos and DespatchBay Express. A frantic five-way battle looks set to play out on a circuit that is no stranger to seeing FunCup title decided on more than one occasion and if it turns out to be as close as points suggest, it’s sure to be an absolute barnstormer. Don’t let the race length fool you – it may be four hours, but they’re guaranteed to be action-packed from start to finish!
The other season finale is that of the Hyperdrive ST-XR Challenge, heading back to one of their favourite and local venues as well as the sight of their first rounds this season. Class D will produce the overall champion, but which driver from that class takes it isn’t 100% certain. The season-long back and forth between William Heslop and Mark Robinson has been incredibly entertaining to watch, but last time at Silverstone the Tensport Performance duo of Chris Grimes and Sam Beckett were able to stick their noses into the fray with Grimes even able to take a race win. With a great mix of Ford Fiesta STs, Fiesta XR2s and Escort XR3is, a very healthy entry of just over 25 cars are ready to compete for one last time in 2020.
It’s the second meeting of the season for the Teekay Couplings Production GTi Championship, after they began their delayed and shortened calendar at Brands Hatch a few weeks ago. Defending champion Simon Hill began as he looked to continue with two race wins before having to cut his weekend short. Martyn Walsh won the remaining race from the weekend and he will look to take up the fight again, along with the likes of Adam Hance, James Colbourne, Simon Vercoe and more.
Plus, we’re in for a treat with two races from the Superkarting UK Championship. These little pocket rockets always deliver such fun and entertainment and being so close to the ground, it makes the drivers feel as though they’re literally going ten times as fast as the speedometer reads!
