CATERHAM AND BRITCAR READY TO ROUND OFF 2020 AT BRSCC SNETTERTON WEEKEND

CATEGORIES:

The last two-day meeting of the 2020 BRSCC season takes place this weekend at the Snetterton 300 circuit in Norfolk with two big paddocks of British club racing coming together to share the tarmac between them. Caterham Motorsport will occupy it on Saturday to finish their season, while Sunday sees it handed over to Britcar for their finale. With a mix of exciting sprint and endurance racing, it’s sure to be a sensational couple of days’ racing.

Caterham Motorsport host the final rounds of their truncated campaign with four championships ready to be settled. The Roadsport title is set to be a one-on-one duel between former Academy title rivals Tom Wyllys and Blair McConachie who come into the weekend tied on dropped scores, while the Seven 270R contest will see Ben Lopez-Appleton, Harry Eyre, Lars Hoffmann and Angelos Alvanos preparing for a big four-way scrap for honours. The same also looks set to take place for the Seven 310R Championship, as Greg Monks, James Murphy, Tom Grensinger and Lewis Thompson are ready to do battle on Snetterton’s long straight where slipstreaming will be plentiful. As for the Seven UK Championship contest, champion-elect John Byrne is choosing to spend the weekend that’s almost certain to see his coronation from the sidelines, leaving Henry Heaton, Stephen Nuttall, Jake Swann-Dixon and co to duke it out to take a rare victory – something John has done plenty of time this year! Plus there’s another non-championship contest for this year’s Academy graduates as those who have upgraded their cars early are back out on track for a special Roadsport 2021 Challenge race – this looks set to be another thriller like the Autumn Trophy at Donington Park all over again!

Sunday’s racing is dominated by the exceptional Dunlop Britcar Endurance paddock with two championships to wrap up. Racing first will be their new Trophy category, where Anthony Hutchins’ Porsche and the Ginetta pairing of Charlotte Birch and Adriano Medeiros are tied on overall points while also battling for their respective class titles. Other significant cars include the Peugeot RCZ of Charlie Campbell and Rob Smith, the potent little Smart ForFour of Rob Baker and Jonathan Packer and a whole host of Honda Civics, BMWs, Ginettas and Porsches. Over with the Endurance competitors, it looks set to be a duel between the Ferrari shared by Paul Bailey, Andy Schulz and Ross Wylie this season and the awesome Praga R1T of Jack Fabby and Garry Townsend. The latter will have back up from their sister car driven by Danny Harrison and Jem Hepworth, plus watch out for the Radical RXC Coupe of Ben Dimmack and Steve Burgess, Mike Moss’ BMW 1M E82 which Andy Schulz will co-drive with him on this occasion, plus several Porsche 911s and Caymans, Ginettas, two SEAT CUPRA TCR touring cars and even a Ligier JS2-R. All four races from Britcar are sure to be absolute thrillers!
