CLAPHAM NORTH MOT JOIN FORCES WITH BRSCC AND MAZDA MX-5 CLUBMAN CHAMPIONSHIP FOR 2021
The British Racing and Sports Car Club is delighted to announce that the new Mazda MX-5 Clubman Championship for 2021 will gain key sponsorship support from Clapham North MOT.
Founded in 1960 by Ronnie Grant and now run by his son George, Clapham North MOT is a family run MOT, garage and auto servicing business located in the London district from which the company takes its name.
Alongside their core automotive business, Clapham North has also forged a place in UK motorsport history, having helped to nurture the talents of engineering and design legends such as Patrick Head and John Barnard of Formula 1 fame. Ronnie himself has a history of racing in Formula 3, and son George is a regular competitor in the BRSCC Mazda MX-5 paddock.
The all-new BRSCC Mazda MX-5 Clubman Championship builds on the popularity already achieved by Mk1 generation models, and as a means of reducing logistical and running costs for all drivers competing, race weekends will consist of a 15-minute qualifying session and two 15-minute races, all taking place over a single day.
To further enhance the attractiveness of the MX-5 Clubman Championship, and to offer the lowest cost Mazda racing in the UK, Clapham North have generously committed to discount every race entry by £50. This means that Clubman Championship competitors will pay a market-leading £295 entry fee per race meeting for the whole of the 2021 race season.
Clapham North branding will be prominent on the cars’ windscreen strips and rear number plate area, alongside the regular BRSCC promotional material, website and social channels.
George Grant expressed his pleasure at offering this partnership, saying “When the BRSCC informed me of their plans to introduce the new Clubman Championship in 2021, I immediately recognised the benefit that this would provide to new racers, or those who don’t feel they want to commit to racing their MX-5 in the regular championship. At Clapham North, we pride ourselves on offering our customers the very best value for money, and we believe that the new Clubman Championship will do the same for BRSCC Mk1 MX-5 racers. I was extremely keen for our support to go towards the paddock, and I am delighted to have come to an agreement whereby we can subsidise entry fees in this manner”.
BRSCC Mazda MX-5 Clubman Championship coordinator Mandy Andrew was also enthused by the announcement, adding “George is an incredibly loyal, enthusiastic and dedicated member and supporter of the BRSCC Mazda MX-5 paddock and his Clapham North sponsorship of our new Clubman Championship only strengthens that existing connection. We as a club and as a series always drive to do the very best we can for our competitors and this only reaffirms that commitment as we continue to provide some of the best racing, value and paddock atmosphere in British club motorsport. A big thank you to George, Ronnie and Clapham North for their continued support and I’m very much looking forward to watching the new championship kick off at Silverstone in March next year”.
