BRSCC APPOINTS LUKE SOUCH AS NEW COMPETITIONS COORDINATOR
The British Racing & Sports Car Club is delighted to confirm the appointment of Luke Souch as their new Competitions Coordinator, with his role set to commence on July 1st 2021.
Luke has a genuine lifelong passion and enthusiasm for motorsport, with his involvement beginning whilst working with the BRSCC as a runner before moving into race comms and as an assembly area cadet marshal. Luke followed this by becoming a probationary clerk before, at just 18 years of age, he became the youngest ever fully qualified Interclub level Clerk of the Course. Luke has continued to gain experience at a variety of levels including secretary of the meeting, various marshalling roles and chief observer, as well as continuously developing his clerking experience, eventually moving up recently to a Senior Clerk of the Course role at BRSCC race weekends. Other notable milestones include assisting in clerking the British GT Championship and Masters Historic, the latter seeing him become the acting Race Director for the Masters Endurance Legends support race at the Formula 1 French Grand Prix at Paul Ricard in 2018. Luke is also a member of the club’s Midlands Centre committee, which sees him take an active role in recruiting the next generation of clerks, marshals and volunteers. Alongside all of this, Luke has also occasionally competed in the BRSCC Mazda MX-5 Championship over the last few years.
All of this combined means Luke is perfectly equipped to move into the Competitions Coordinator role at the club’s HQ office, with the ability to use all of his experience, knowledge and enthusiasm to play a key part in driving the BRSCC forwards throughout the 2021 season and beyond.
Speaking of his new appointment, Luke said “I am thrilled to be joining the BRSCC in the role of Competitions Coordinator. Motorsport is a lifelong passion of mine, whether as a spectator, official or competing myself. Having been part of the club’s infrastructure as a volunteer for over 15 years, largely with the Midland Centre, and as a BRSCC customer, I am really excited to be joining the HQ team. I am looking forward to becoming much more involved with our members, competitors and various stakeholders to ensure that we continue to provide our customers with a great portfolio of series and events and to continue pushing the club to reach new heights. I wish to take this opportunity to thank Paul McErlean and the BRSCC Board of Directors for this opportunity.”
The BRSCC’s Chief Operations Officer Paul McErlean was equally delighted at the new addition to the club’s HQ team, adding “Having seen him work first-hand and knowing his vast experience in a wide variety of roles, Luke has a deep and valuable understanding of how club motorsport operates. He also understands the importance of clear communications and operational efficiency. Both myself and the Club firmly believe that he is the ideal person to join our HQ team as our new Competitions Coordinator and he will further enhance our exceptional operations team to ensure the BRSCC remains at the forefront of British club motorsport.”
