RIVALS AIMING TO STOP UVIO/ HOFMANN’S LOTUS IN FUNCUP ENDURANCE AT SILVERSTONE

Undefeated so far this season after wins at Donington and Silverstone, UVio/Hofmann’s Farquini Deott/Fabio Randaccio, head for Anglesey this weekend looking to consolidate their growing championship lead.

Luck hasn’t been on the side of defending champions Team Olympian so far. Chris Dovell/Kristian Rose /Riley Phillips have all shown their pace, but after a late fuel issue at Donington and a blown engine at Silverstone, they are due a good result.
The luck continues to bypass PLR’s Neil Plimmer/Ben Pitch too, set for a for a Silverstone podium until, their clutch went.

Andy Bicknell/Harry Mailer will be looking to be at the sharp end for DespatchBay Express, but with the rapid Jonathan Hoad joining Colin Kingsnorth at Stobart Sport, they should be strong challengers too.

New to the Championship this season are MJ Tec GTi, with ex Mini man Scott Jeffs and experienced Fun Cupper and truck racer Martin Gibson. They made a strong debut at Donington in the opening round, but had issues at Silverstone.

The versatile Nigel Greensall is slated to be with his third different car in the Championship already this year. At Donington he shared the Team Viking car, at Silverstone he was with CCS Media.

This weekend he is due to team up with the Smeeth family, Sam, Ted and Simon in the Greensall Motorsport, while Ryan/Paul Lewis share the second car as usual.

Team Viking have shown consistency, but having been close to the title before, both Mark Holme and Nick Nunn will be wanting more this weekend.

Both Agua Caliente cars ran strongly at Silverstone and are back with Matt Hogg/Rob Perry in one car and Rob Croydon/Paul Turner the other.

Although EDF have both cars entered, they are still short of drivers. Matt Dorkings/Vlad Vassiliev share as usual, but Simon Coles is unaccompanied at present in the second car.

Enduro Motorsport are down to one car due to the clashing British GT, but Chris Weatherill/Jon Currie will be hoping to uphold team honour.

MakeHappen Racing’s Greg Evans/Stephen Walton should be looking for podiums too, as will be Track Focused with their usual trio of Sean Cooper/Mike McCollum/Neil Smith.

Team Greenheath have hit form too of late, with both Gary Bate/Simon Smith showing pace.

GT Radial are down to two drivers this weekend, with Ellis Hadley/Steve Peat, while Stand2 Motorsport have Duncan Rogers joining Warren McKinlay and Martyn Crompton.

JPR Black Widows have their usual blend of experience and err experience, with David Clark/Steve Harris/Dominic Jackson, while “We have no idea” are back after debuting at Silverstone with Paul Calladine/Alan Baldwin.

While a few regular crews are missing, it’s welcome back to Team Caudwell, with brothers John and Brian back in action.

The weekend action starts with a night practice on Friday at 10.15 for 45 minutes, then 45 minutes qualifying on Saturday at 9am.

The first race is at 13.20 and the second at 19.55, both of three hours duration.
