COOKSPORT TO PROVIDE £20,000+ RACE ENTRY FUND FOR NEXT-GEN FIESTA JUNIOR CARS IN 2022
Through his motorsport development and race parts supply company Cooksport Ltd, professional racing driver and BTCC contender Josh Cook has announced a fantastic 2022 Junior Racing Support Programme worth an initial £20,000!
As part of their investment in the exciting future of the BRSCC Fiesta Junior Championship, and a demonstration of how committed Josh and Cooksport are to helping bring new young racers into the sport, Cooksport will cover the full cost of race entry fees for the drivers of each new next-generation Mk7 Fiesta race car built…this being applicable from the first to last race meetings of the 2022 season. Put simply…for anyone racing a next-generation car in the BRSCC Fiesta Junior Championship this season, all race entry fees will be covered by Cooksport.
Josh commented; “Through Cooksport, we will cover the full cost of race entry fees for every driver of the next-gen car for all of the races they enter in the 2022 Championship. For a driver getting involved at the start of the season, this is equivalent to handing them over £4000 toward their 2022 racing expenses. Even for those that will build cars through the season to get involved later in the year, the contribution will begin as soon as they enter their first race”.
After a long involvement and supply partnership with the British Racing and Sports Car Club (BRSCC), in 2021 Cooksport Ltd were appointed as development partners for the BRSCC’s next-generation Junior race car, this based on the Mk7 1.6 Ford Fiesta Zetec S model. As well as undertaking the technical development of the new car, Cooksport have also been appointed as sole supplier of all mandatory parts, this guaranteeing controlled build costs and equality of performance across all cars for drivers and race teams.
With interest in the next-gen Junior car gathering momentum ahead of the 2022 race season, the BRSCC Fiesta Junior Championship is already attracting the attention of a number of young new drivers keen to get involved, and Cooksport’s Junior Racing Support Programme will deliver them a huge incentive to help them make the final commitment.
Having personally taken the Junior circuit racing pathway on his way to developing his own racing career, Josh is fully aware of the amount of commitment, time, and resources that it takes to get onto the first steps of the ladder to success in the sport, and in commenting on the announcement of the Cooksport support package Josh added,
“Having started my own saloon car racing career in Junior Racing, I’m well aware of the struggles and sacrifices young drivers and their families have to make to get involved and be competitive, and our partnership with the BRSCC in developing their next-generation race car has been led by trying to find solutions to some of those challenges.
Our key project goals were to create a new Junior race car that delivered true equality in terms of on-track performance, and also to cap build costs and running expenses…and we believe we have achieved all of those aspirations. On completing that part of the project, I then wanted to find a way to incentivise new drivers to choose the new car as their starting point in saloon car racing, and through discussions with various partners we have managed to put together this Junior Racing Support Programme”.
