DOWNFORCE RADIO ANNOUNCED AS MAZDA MX-5 CLUBMAN CHAMPIONSHIP SUPPORT SPONSOR FOR 2022
The BRSCC is delighted to confirm that the second season of the Mazda MX-5 Clubman Championship will receive support sponsorship from long-standing online motorsport radio and media outlet Downforce Radio for the 2022 season.
Downforce Radio was the brainchild of motorsport commentator, journalist and all-round enthusiast Jake Sanson back in 2012, where he formed a core collective of team members to produce and present regular online podcasts and audio panel shows. Since then, Downforce has expanded into live race weekend radio coverage of a variety of motorsport events, including a number of BRSCC race meetings in recent years, plus their latest development in successfully launching and developing their own 24/7 online internet motorsport radio station.
Within the last 18 months Clapham North MOT’s George Grant, a friend and supporter of Downforce and its activities, purchased the Downforce Radio entity. Now under George’s stewardship and with Jake and his team of journalists, presenters and team members, Downforce looks set to continue growing and evolving alongside the ever-changing landscape of motorsport in which it both survives and thrives.
For the first time in its history, Downforce Radio will be present as a support sponsor to a championship, this being the Mazda MX-5 Clubman Championship, which debuted in 2021 as a second standalone grid for identical spec Mk1 Mazda MX-5 race cars. For the 2022 season, the Downforce Radio logo will be present on the windscreen strips of all competing Mk1 race cars within the championship. Downforce branding will also be present during live stream coverage of MX-5 Clubman Championship races throughout the year, as well as on respective promotional materials and social media graphics and a presence on the BRSCC website too.
George Grant, Clapham North MOT/ Downforce Radio: “Downforce Radio is a platform for fans to hear from and engage with the people who made British motorsport tick, so partnering with the BRSCC and the Mazda MX-5 Clubman Championship was an easy decision for us. The station has grown massively in the past year and we’ve now got over 70,000 listeners worldwide, content is being produced every hour and more and more fans are enjoying our content. We’ll be broadcasting events live in conjunction with the BRSCC throughout the season. We’re really looking forward to producing some excellent content in partnership with the BRSCC.”
Jake Sanson, Downforce Radio: “It’s been an ambition of us to partner with a racing championship and in ten years we have finally grown to the extent that we can support the BRSCC Mazda MX-5 Clubman Championship – one of the best forms of club racing in the country. We are delighted to support the series and we’ll be creating some content throughout the year not just supporting Mazdas but the entirety of the BRSCC. We’re indebted to our ongoing partnership with Clapham North that allows us to tell the stories and promote the endeavours of great motorsport in the UK and further afield.”
Mandy Andrew, BRSCC: “I’ve known both George and Jake through motorsport over the last few years and in that time, both of them and the Downforce team have been incredibly supportive and enthusiastic about motorsport in the UK, including our Mazda MX-5 paddock. To see Downforce Radio as our support sponsor for the increasingly popular Mazda MX-5 Clubman Championship that we launched in 2021 is absolutely amazing, and we’re really looking forward to working closer with Jake, George and everyone at Downforce as they create some great new content on the championship and the BRSCC. We’re all very excited for 2022 to get underway!”
