Pro Sports Sprint – The BRSCC’s exciting new series for multi-class ultra-high performance closed wheel racing machinery
As the BRSCC’s rich history demonstrates, the Club has always tried to be forward thinking and innovative, and who better to rely on to steer our direction than our racing members.
As a result of long-term ongoing dialogue with drivers and race teams, we are delighted to be able to announce the launch of the new-for-2025 Pro Sports Sprint racing series.
Pro Sports Sprint is being introduced after feedback from teams and car owners who have canvassed the club over the past seasons to introduce a “high-level” sprint format for machinery that currently doesn’t enjoy a BRSCC dedicated platform to race within the Club. Pro Sports Sprint will offer 20-minute sessions, and a mix of double / triple header events throughout the season.
We’re inviting owners of high-performance closed wheel race cars to join us for 2025 on this new adventure to create one of the UK’s most exciting racing championships. As well as owner-built race cars including the likes of BMW, VAG and Renault, Pro Sports Sprint will also cater for factory built race cars and touring cars from manufacturers such as VW, SEAT, Ginetta, BMW, Porsche, Audi, Lotus etc.
The series will be multi-class managed by BHP/Tonne, with the provisional class structure looking like this:
Class A | +351bhp/tonne |
Class B | 311 – 350bhp/tonne |
Class C | 271 – 310bhp/tonne |
Class D | 231 – 270bhp/tonne |
Class E | 191 – 230bhp/tonne |
Class F | 151 – 190bhp/ tonne |
It should be noted that the wider the power gap is within classes, the less chance lower powered cars have to remain competitive, so for Pro Sports Sprint the difference between the lowest and highest bhp/tonne is set at only 39 bhp/tonne, this meaning the class structure will allow any car within each class to be competitive with others within the same class.
The Club has decided to run Pro Sports Sprint as a Series rather than a Championship for the first year, this giving the benefit of allowing us the option to work throughout the first season to ensure that we “stress test” and refine the sporting and technical regulations before upgrading to full championship status in year two.
Running as a series also gives as many people as possible the opportunity to bring their cars along and experience some great racing on a meeting by meeting basis.
Technical and Sporting regulations will be published in due course.
