MALVERN SETS FORMULA FORD RECORD

It was a meeting of mixed fortunes for runaway Dunlop MSA Formula Ford Championship of Great Britain leader Scott Malvern at the Brands Hatch DTM event last weekend.

Having taken victory in Saturday’s opener to record his 13th straight win, Scott’s winning streak was brought to a close in the first of Sunday’s two races when team mate Jeroen Slaghekke took the honours ahead of Dan de Zille and Antii Buri. Scott finished a lowly 10th after being called in for a drive-through penalty for jumping the start.

However, the Ilford racer recovered in the afternoon to take his 15th victory of the season and a new record for the number of wins in a single season. Australian Geoff Uhrhane returned to the podium in second with Dutchman Slaghekke third. With only six races remaining in the championship, Malvern’s stranglehold on the title continues to strengthen.

The Championship heads to Donington Park on 24th-25th September for rounds 19, 20 and 21.
