TCR UK TAKES A DOZEN TO KNOCKHILL
The second round of the TCR UK championship will see an entry list of twelve cars take to the Knockhill circuit in Fife this weekend. The event sees a number of test sessions on Friday ahead of the standard TCR UK timetable of Free Practice and Qualifying on Saturday and the two thirty-minute races on Sunday, all using the circuit’s anti-clockwise configuration.
The first event at Silverstone saw Daniel Lloyd enjoy the perfect start to the season – pole position and victory in both races – and Dan, together with Swedish siblings Andreas and Jessica Bäckman, form a three-car entry for WestCoast Racing this weekend. Ollie Taylor (currently second in the Drivers’ Championship behind Lloyd) will be in a Pyro Motorsport Honda Civic, while making his TCR UK debut is Josh Price who’ll be driving a similar car run by the BMR Autoglym Academy. Price will be rekindling a friendly rivalry with Lewis Kent after the pair competed against each other in their karting days; a successful test at Snetterton means Kent has solved the clutch problem that hampered him at Silverstone and so the Essex and Kent Motorsport Hyundai i30 N TCR should be another of the cars to watch.
The series’ Scottish drivers will, of course, be looking for local support this weekend. The two Laser Tools Racing Alfa Romeo Giuliettas of Aiden Moffat and Derek Palmer Jnr were at the circuit last weekend to display the TCR cars to local fans and the pair drove several demonstration laps in the sunshine on the track’s clockwise layout. Finlay Crocker, too, is on home turf and should be looking for a strong performance in the new-shape Honda Civic Type R TCR car while Sean Walkinshaw – the youngest son of Scottish Touring Car legend Tom Walksinshaw – will tackle the event at the wheel of the SWR Honda driven by Howard Fuller at Silverstone.
