2020 BRSCC FORMULA FORD FESTIVAL OBTAINS UK ELITE SPORTING EVENT STATUS

The BRSCC are delighted to announce that Motorsport UK have gained approval from the UK Government’s Department for Digital, Culture, Media & Sport (DCMS) that under Schedule 3 the Formula Ford Festival at Brands Hatch on 24th/25th October 2020 is classed as a ‘UK Elite Sporting Event’.

Currently the UK Government requires all persons entering the UK from specified countries that are not on the ’travel corridor list’ must self-isolate for 14 full days. The UK Government has given Motorsport UK permission to issue Exemption letters to competitors attending a ‘UK Elite Sporting Event’, to enable them to take part within the isolation period, although in all other respects the individual would be required to self-isolate. Visitors to the UK wishing to participate in the Formula Ford Festival must enter the UK having first obtained an Exemption letter from Motorsport UK and must be able to present a negative COVID-19 test before attending this Event. This test must be carried out at a relevant NHS or other authorised laboratory no sooner than 48 hours but not more than 96 hours from entry into the UK, time must also be factored in for the results to be received. There is no exemption to the requirement from having to undertake a COVID-19 test.

Exemption letters are available from Motorsport UK for Elite Sportspersons and Ancillary Sportspersons as defined by the Department for Digital, Culture, Media & Sport (DCMS)  – please scroll down and read the paragraph for ‘Elite International Sportspersons’ via this link https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/coronavirus-covid-19-travellers-exempt-from-uk-border-rules/coronavirus-covid-19-travellers-exempt-from-uk-border-rules. In order to apply for an exemption letter you must hold a Motorsport UK International Competition Licence, work for a team with an International Entrants Licence or hold an International Officials Licence or an International Competition Licence issued by a recognised FIA ASN that is not Motorsport UK.

To apply for a Motorsport UK Exemption letter, please complete the Google form by clicking on the link below. You must meet the criteria laid out in the exemptions flowchart to be eligible for an Exemption letter. Where an administration fee is applicable, you will be contacted by a member of Motorsport UK for this payment. This administration fee is non-refundable. Please ensure you read the Terms and Conditions before you apply using link https://www.motorsportuk.org/motorsport-uk-exemption-letter/.

Note: The Elite status solely refers to international competitors outside of the UK being permitted to race in the Festival only, on this basis. This will have no bearing or effect on the allowance of spectators to attend and they will be allowed across both days as normal.

This is the same allowance as that which the British GT Championship has also been granted this season, which has also been permitting spectators to attend (with the upcoming Silverstone finale being the exception).

Tickets are on sale on the Brands Hatch/MSV website for those wishing to attend this year’s Festival:
