Following a morning session featuring 30 minute qualifying periods for each of the championships on show, the afternoon’s racing got underway with the Xennia Historic Sports 2000 Championship. Peter Needham took the victory in his Tiga SC82 finishing less than a second ahead of Mike Johns’ Royale.

Next up was the first of two races in the Alfashop Alfa Romeo Championship. Neil Smith dominated qualifying with his best lap 7 seconds quicker than Stephen Dymoke. Neil carried that performance through to both races bringing his former WTCC 156 home ahead of Dymoke on each occasion.

Richard Johnson took the honours in the MARCH Racing Academy Sports 2000 Duratec race, finishing the half hour race 15 seconds ahead of Mike Jenvey’s Gunn TS6. It was a strong performance by Johnson’s Van Diemen SC02 especially after he had lined up behind Jenvey on the grid.

Saturday provided an opportunity for Caterham racers to enjoy the twists and turns of the Lincolnshire track in two half hour trophy races. Orpington’s Adam Bettinson took full advantage bringing his Roadsport A home ahead of Ben Gower’s Supersport by a fraction of a second in each race. Stephen Collins completed the podium positions in both outings.

The SRCC Sports 2000 Pinto Championship produced the biggest grid of the day (19) and it was Redhill’s Paul Streat who bested the pack in his Swift DB2. He crossed the line just a sixth of a second ahead of Mike Johns, who had to settle for the runner up spot again following his near miss in the Historic race.
