90+ REGISTRATIONS FOR CLUBSPORT TROPHY
The 2023 BRSCC ClubSport Trophy season looks set to be the biggest and best supported yet, as at the time of writing the series has received 93 registrations since it opened just under two weeks ago.
The ClubSport Trophy was first conceived by the Club in 2019 with two pilot races held at Brands Hatch and Donington Park, both achieving sell-out grids. Over the next three seasons, grid numbers and support continued to grow, with 2022 seeing the series reach new heights that peaked at the C1 24 Hour race weekend at Silverstone in May, where a 61-car grid set a brand-new record for the largest entry in ClubSport’s short but successful history.
Looking ahead to 2023, race entries opened earlier this week and so far all of the eight scheduled events have received entries over the first few days. In particular, the season-opening race on the Silverstone GP circuit has already attracted over 40 cars and with several weeks until the event takes place on the weekend of 18/19 March, there’s every chance that the series will match its record with another sell-out grid.
Alongside many regular drivers that have been competing in ClubSport over the last few seasons, this year’s list of registrations also features a raft of brand new drivers to the series, many of whom that will also be new to BRSCC competition at the same time. This superb mix of new and established entries once again demonstrates the unique popularity that ClubSport Trophy has garnered and the platform it provides for a vast array of marques, models and specifications to race on track together at once across the five classes.
ClubSport Trophy series coordinator Charlotte White expressed how pleased she was at the incredible numbers achieved, stating: ”I’m really excited for the 2023 season and seeing over 90 registrations in under 2 weeks shows I’m not the only one! It’s lovely to see so many people returning to the ClubSport Trophy and I can’t wait to meet our new competitors. We’ve got over 40 entries for our first round on the Silverstone GP circuit and entries only opened a few days ago. 2023 looks like it’s going to be another great year for the series!”
