TCR UK INTRODUCES £75,000 CASH PRIZE FUND FOR THE 2023 SEASON
The promoters of the TCR UK Touring Car Championship are proud to announce that for the first time in the history of the championship, a total prize fund of £75,000 will be introduced.
A cash prize will be handed out to drivers during each of the seven events this year at Snetterton, Croft, Oulton Park, Knockhill, Silverstone, Donington Park and the end-of-season finale at Brands Hatch.
The amount of £1,000 will be awarded to the driver who takes the overall pole position in each of the seven qualifying sessions this year.
For the overall top three drivers in the first race at each of the seven events, the winner will receive £1,500, the second-place driver will receive £1,000 with the third-place driver getting £500.
For the race two reverse grid race at each of the seven events, the race two winner will receive £750, the second-place driver will receive £500 and the third-place driver will get £250.
The same race two prize amounts also apply to race three at Knockhill, the only event to have three races this year.
At the end-of-season awards ceremony, the 2023 TCR UK Champion will receive the cash prize amount of £15,000 with the end-of-season Vice-Champion receiving £10,000 and the third-place driver in the overall standings being awarded £5,000.
The drivers who are crowned as the Tom Walker Memorial Trophy winner and Goodyear Diamond Trophy winners will also receive an end-of-year cash prize of £2,500 per trophy.
New for this year, Carless Racing Fuels will provide the “TCR Driver of the Day” Award at each of this season’s events. The driver selected for this award will receive a 54-litre keg of control race fuel as their prize.
These new incentives offer the chance for drivers who compete in the 2023 TCR UK Touring Car Championship to race for prize money across race weekends and also when fighting for each of the three championship titles.
Championship Manager Ashley Gallagher welcomes the new incentive ahead of the new season.
“It’s fantastic for us to be able to offer such a brilliant incentive for the drivers for the 2023 season, which really sets us apart from other Championships in the UK. It’s so rare in modern motorsport that Championships are able to offer actual cash prizes for competitors, as opposed to credit towards something, so we are very excited to be able to add this extra element to the Championship and be able to give something back.
Championship Promoter Stewart Lines is proud to introduce the new prize fund to the championship for 2023.
“I’m very pleased that we have introduced this new prize fund for the 2023 season. For the drivers to earn prize money for their on-track performance is a great reward for the hard work that the drivers put in. In the current climate where everyone is working so hard to go motor racing, during this difficult economic time, this offers a welcome change where we can give something back to those competing in the championship.”
