ABBI PULLING JOINS JHR DEVELOPMENTS FOR 2020 BRITISH F4 SEASON
Former double karting champion and Ginetta racer Abbi Pulling has followed up a successful Scholarship test with JHR Developments to join them for a full season in the Ford F4 British Championship in 2020.
Abbi joins the championship after securing two Junior TKM karting titles in Super One as well as winning the TKM Festival twice and the ‘O’ Plate in 2017. She made her circuit racing debut in Ginetta Juniors in 2018, moving into the senior level Ginetta GT5 Challenge last year and picking up the best result of 6th place on the final weekend of racing at Donington Park. After prior tests in a British F4 car last season, Abbi has now committed to joining the JHR team for a full season and is aiming to achieve big things in her first year of single-seater racing.
Speaking of her signing, Pulling said “I’m really excited to drive with JHR Developments. I’ve been getting on well with the team, having a chat with people at the workshop when I’m having a break from using the simulator. We’re always having a laugh. It’s been challenging to learn the car, but we’ve worked hard and done lots of preparation on JHR’s simulator so it’s starting to go well. I’m matching the times Carter [Williams] set last year on the sim, which is good!
“I’m putting everything into this year. I want to prove to myself that I can succeed at this level. I proved it to myself in karting and I know I can do it in cars too, it is just about building on my knowledge to have the speed on track, but I also want to make sure I keep having fun as well.”
JHR Developments team boss Steven Hunter added “We are very happy to have Abbi driving with us this year. She was very impressive during the Scholarship Assessment Day at Silverstone in difficult conditions last year and has continued to show her speed during winter testing, as well as on our simulator. JHR Developments has a proud history of working with talented young drivers as they launch their careers and Abbi is no exception to this: she has proven ability in karting, and we are looking forward to helping her achieve the very best she can in single-seaters.”
Pulling is the first driver to be confirmed by the team for 2020, with further announcements on her teammates set to be available in due course.
