ALVAREZ REJOINS DOUBLE R RACING FOR BRITISH F4

Sebastian Alvarez has re-joined Double R Racing for a second F4 British Championship certified by FIA – powered by Ford EcoBoost campaign, with regular podiums the aim for the Mexican teenager.

The 16-year old proved himself as a consistent points finisher in his first season in Ford’s winning formula – also his first in single-seaters – with a best result of sixth in the opening race at Snetterton and five Rookie Cup podiums over the course of the year.

Alvarez arrived at Double R last year fresh from a strong karting career in Mexico, the USA and also at World Championship level. Winning multiple titles in the Americas, he stepped-up onto the world stage in 2016 where he competed in the CIK-FIA World Junior Championship.

From there, he moved into the WSK Champions Cup and WSK Super Masters Series as well as dovetailing continued participation in the prestigious CIK-FIA World Championship and CIK-FIA European Championship.

He will join Louis Foster at the Kent-based outfit as the tenth driver to confirm his place on Britain’s FIA-sanctioned Formula 4 grid for 2019, with overall silverware now his aim.

“It’s great to be back with Double R for my second season in British F4,” commented Alvarez.

“I  really enjoyed my first year in the championship, we had some good results and I learnt a lot as well which I aim to put into practice.

“Double R is a fantastic team, they proved that by winning the title last year, and I’m confident we can make very strong progress together this season.”

Team boss Anthony Hieatt also underlined his belief that Alvarez will prove a strong contender this season, highlighting some of the standout moments in his rookie season.

“We’re delighted to see Seb return as a Double R driver for 2019 and very much looking forward to working with him again this year,” said Hieatt.

“He made strong progress in his first season last year, and we’re sure he’ll continue to make big strides this season.

“There were some impressive performances last year, not least at Snetterton where he was top six and then a real standout drive in the pouring rain at Knockhill, so we know there is a huge amount of potential for Seb to be an outright podium contender in his second season with us.”

The new season gets underway on Brands Hatch’s Indy circuit over the weekend of 6th-7th April.

Further driver announcements are expected in due course.
