ARDEN MOTORSPORT ADD US RACER DAVID MORALES TO 2021 LINE-UP

Arden Motorsport have announced US racer David Morales will join their line-up for the remainder of the 2021 F4 British Championship certified by FIA – powered by Ford EcoBoost season.

The 17-year-old joins the Red Arrows from the F4 NACAM Championship, in which Morales claimed a first podium finish last year and ran consistently up front in the series’ two recent non-championship rounds.

That followed a campaign in the Formula Car Race Series out in the States, with Morales making three trips to the rostrum at Mid-Ohio and New Jersey, and before that a solid track record through the karting ranks.

Now, he makes the switch to Britain’s FIA Formula 4 series for the remainder of the 2021 campaign to partner the team’s existing line-up of Zak Taylor and Thomas Ikin. Morales will run #77.

In joining British F4, Morales will benefit from an unparalleled platform on which to promote his racing, including live, free-to-air television coverage on ITV4.

The team enjoyed a competitive start to the season at the high-speed Thruxton circuit last month, including a debut podium for Taylor and Ikin’s first Rookie Cup victory.

The tight, technical Snetterton 300 circuit in Norfolk hosts the next round on 12-13 June, with fans expected to be in attendance for the first time since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Garry Horner, Arden Team Principal said:

“Everybody at Arden Motorsport is delighted to welcome David to our British Formula 4 team.

“He already arrives at the team with a good track record and plenty of promise, and I’m looking forward to seeing what that, combined with our in-house driver development, can lead to.

“Having an extra car on the grid is always a positive, and I’m sure all three drivers will continue to build on a strong start at Thruxton last month.”

Gary Ward, Arden British F4 Team Manager said:

“Having monitored David’s progress for a while, I’m really pleased we’ve been able to sign him for the rest of the British F4 season.

“He’s got plenty of speed and really solid race craft; that, plus his experience in the car should put him a good position right from the off.

“I’m confident he’ll work well alongside Zak and Thomas, and as a trio we can all keep pushing on towards the sharp end of the grid.”

David Morales said:

“I’m really excited to announce I’ll be racing in the remainder of the British Formula 4 season with Arden Motorsport.

“They’re a very established, race-winning team and I’ve been really impressed with their level of professionalism, the standard to which the cars are prepared and the positive atmosphere within the team, it’s been very easy to settle in.

“Snetterton is going to be one of the more challenging circuits on the calendar, it’s very technical and you really have to link several corners together to get the lap time, so in some regards it’s a tough starting point.

“That said, I’ve got plenty of experience in the same car from my time out in F4 NACAM, so I’m confident we’ll be able to shorten that learning process quite considerably, and build from there.”
