BECKETT JOINS THE BRSCC FESTIVAL TEAM
The BRSCC has confirmed that former BRDC assistant secretary James Beckett has joined the Club’s admin team for the 2009 Formula Ford Festival, which will take place at Brands Hatch on Saturday 17th & Sunday 18th October. Beckett takes on the remit of promoting the 1600cc category of the Club’s ‘blue riband’ event, the 38th in the Festival’s rich history. BRSCC Competitions Director Drew Furlong said, “We are delighted to have James on board for the Festival. He brings with him a wealth of Formula Ford experience and contacts, evidenced by the success of the Walter Hayes Trophy, which he instigated and developed.” Commenting on his temporary role, James said, “I am very pleased to be asked by the BRSCC to work with them this year to develop and strengthen the Formula Ford Festival. The Festival has a great history – a remarkable pedigree, and I hope that competitors will once again view the event as an important part of their end-of-season trophy season." "I have said many times that Formula Ford is my passion. My early childhood memories are of watching Formula Ford 1600 at Silverstone and that naturally led to trips to Brands to camp out at the top of Paddock Hill Bend for the weekend to watch the Festival." Beckett has enjoyed many Festivals – and rates Vincenzo Sospiri's victory in the 1988 final as one of the most exciting races he has ever seen. Entry fees for all categories of Formula Ford have been held at the 2008 level as follows: Duratecs £400, Zetecs £295 and Kents £295 For more information contact: James Beckett
