BRITISH F4 READY TO RECOMMENCE AT OULTON PARK

CATEGORIES:

The gauntlet has been well and truly thrown down to the rest to halt Zane Maloney (Carlin)’s charge as the F4 British Championship certified by FIA – powered by Ford EcoBoost returns to action at Oulton Park this weekend [29th-30th June].

Another double victory last time out in Yorkshire has propelled the Barbadian racer to the top of the standings, converting a 49-point deficit to a 5-point advantage over Double R Racing’s Louis Foster over the last six rounds alone.

Expect a fightback from the reigning champions this time around, however, with Foster confident both he, fellow title contender Sebastian Alvarez and the third Double R machine of Reema Juffali have a car to be reckoned with at the 2.2-mile Island circuit.

Also one to watch is Arden Motorsport’s Bart Horsten, the Australian having amassed something of a trophy cabinet in recent times – five podiums from the last eight races – to throw himself back into the championship picture.

His team-mates, Tommy Foster and Alex Connor, also arrive in Cheshire off the back of another strong haul of points in the rain-affected Croft double-header, so expect all three Red Arrows to be on form this weekend.

Luke Browning (Richardson Racing) arrives on home soil looking to add to his tally of two race wins so far in 2019. A frustrating Croft has dented the Kingsley-based racer’s title challenge slightly, but a strong triple-header could give Browning the momentum heading into the summer break.

He will also be aiming for a repeat of his success last season, with Browning taking the fourth of his eight victories in the Ginetta Junior Championship en route to third in the standings at Oulton Park.

JHR Developments have a new face in their awning this weekend, with British karting graduate Alex Walker entering the fray alongside Josh Skelton and Carter Williams. Both Skelton and Williams have shown good pace at each weekend so far, but without the luck needed to convert that into headline results. Could this be the weekend their fortune changes?

One thing Fortec Motorsport duo Roberto Faria and Mariano Martinez have no trouble with is overtaking – between them they’ve made up 39 positions from their starting slots in the opening four meetings.

A breakthrough result is surely just around the corner for either, but in the meantime their consistent haul of points puts them in good stead before the summer break.

Fans can once again catch all the action from Cheshire live on ITV4 on Sunday, with catch-up availalble after the event on Motorsport UK and via the ITV Hub.
