BRITISH F4 TITLE CONTENDERS READY TO STAKE THEIR CLAIM AT SNETTERTON

History shows that a few last-minute contenders for the F4 British Championship certified by FIA – powered by Ford EcoBoost crown emerge after the summer break. They’ll need to hurry if they’re going to deny Carlin’s Zane Maloney, starting this weekend at Snetterton…

Maloney, who has surged over the last three meetings from a 49-point deficit to a 55-point lead over closest rival Louis Foster (Double R Racing), arrives in Norfolk on the crest of a wave after a seventh win of the season and the £10,000 Ford Triple Crown Award last time out at Oulton Park.

His efforts have also gone some way towards hauling Carlin back into the Teams Cup fight with Double R, setting up an intriguing battle between the Farnham and Woking-based squads over the coming months.

Alongside Foster, a whole host of Ford’s rising stars are waiting in the wings ready to strike. Both Sebastian Alvarez (Double R) and Bart Horsten (Arden) have proved their race-winning credentials in 2019, whilst JHR’s Josh Skelton has joined their ranks after the cancelled wet-weather race at Croft was officially declared a result two weeks ago.

‘Unlucky’ has been a buzz word so far for Richardson Racing’s Luke Browning, who still has the potential to throw a spanner in the works among the front runners race-by-race, but will need a lot of fortune to haul himself back into the title picture at this stage.

Beyond the race-winners are several drivers with the potential for headline results this weekend, not least JHR’s Carter Williams, the American already twice on the podium this season.

Arden duo Tommy Foster and Alex Connor have scored solid points in recent times, with a breakthrough result likely to be just around the corner for the Red Arrows.

Likewise for consistent points scorers Roberto Faria and Mariano Martinez (both Fortec Motorsport), and expect Reema Juffali (Double R) to be snapping at their heels after yet another impressive step forward in performance at Oulton Park.

The grid is completed by Alex Walker (JHR), the series newcomer aiming to build on the double points finish and debut Rookie Cup podium earnt last time out at Oulton Park as he gathers experience ahead of a full title assault in 2020.

It’s advantage Maloney at the halfway stage, but expect the unexpected as the motorsport stars of tomorrow ready themselves for battle in front of a capacity crowd and ITV4’s TV cameras once again. Time to stake a claim…
