BRSCC ANNOUNCES PLANS FOR MAZDA MX-5 INTERNATIONAL CHALLENGE AT ZANDVOORT

The BRSCC is looking to add an exciting new element to its Euro Race Weekend at Formula 1 venue Zandvoort in the Netherlands on July 11/12, as there are plans in the works to run a non-championship Mazda MX-5 International Challenge open to all UK and European MX-5 competitors.

The MX-5 International Challenge is set to feature four 20-minute sessions, with a free practice session, a qualifying session and two races slotting into the timetable alongside four Caterham Motorsport championships, Caterham Graduates and the Production GTi Championship, all of which will be competing on the same weekend. This will be a prime chance for competitors to race on the newly altered Zandvoort GP circuit just weeks after the return of the Formula 1 Heineken Dutch Grand Prix in May this year. A class structure is set to be in place, allowing cars that meet the following criteria to compete:

Mk1 class – Mk1 Mazda MX-5 championship cars that run any of the following tyres – Avon XV7, Hankook V120 evo2, Davanti DX390 and Interstate Dutch Max5 Cup tyres permitted (an invitation will be extended to Dutch Max5 Cup competitors for this event, should they wish to compete).

Mk3 class – Mk3 Mazda MX-5 championship cars that run any of the following tyres – Avon ZZR & Nankang NS2-R.

An Invitation class will also be included, allowing cars to compete that fit outside of these classes on any tyre, at the club’s discretion (e.g Mazda RX-8s, Mk2 & Mk4 Mazda MX-5s, etc).

Entry to the MX-5 International Challenge will be £335.00, which includes both BRSCC membership and registration fee for this event only and is open to all competitors that hold a National level race licence and above. Awards will be given for both the Mk1 and Mk3 classes for each race.
