BRSCC CLAPHAM NORTH WINTER ESPORTS TRAVELS NORTH TO CADWELL PARK

The 2025 BRSCC Clapham North Winter eSports Series heads towards its conclusion as this week’s fourth round of the season takes the contenders to a brand new circuit. Cadwell Park in Lincolnshire hosts a BRSCC eSports round for the first time, having been added a few months ago in one of the more recent seasonal updates to iRacing.

Just as it is in real-life, the virtual Cadwell Park (dubbed by many as the “Mini-Nurburgring of the North) brings to life the twists and turns of the Lincolnshire venue that consistently provides a challenge to anyone that drives it. With another entry of some 30+ BMW M2 CS Racing cars set to compete, getting a clear lap in qualifying will be crucial as overtaking opportunities will be at a premium.

Amongst the regular entries expected to turn out, one key name could potentially be missing – points leader James Dennison. Stating at the end of the Brands Hatch broadcast that he would be absent from Cadwell Park due to prior commitments, this will mean the trio of races this week will end up as his three dropped scores by default, if he is a no-show this evening. Even though this means his loss would be minimal, it would also mean that his main rivals would have a key chance to stack as many top scores as possible ahead of the Silverstone finale.

It would also mean that James will be under pressure to perform at the final round and be on his a-game as he won’t have any more dropped scores to fall back on should he hit trouble at Silverstone. This could the making of a grandstand finish to the third BRSCC eSports season.

Nearest challenger Matt Kendall will have ambitions of a maximum score from Cadwell to put him in the best possible position to challenge Dennison for the title at Silverstone. A shaky Brands Hatch still produced two podiums, but off-track moments left him battling all evening to score well. Now he has a prime chance to claim three wins and create a showdown at Silverstone.

Will Blackwell-Chambers’ consistent high scoring currently puts him third on dropped scores, 14 behind leader Dennison and 12 behind teammate Kendall ahead. The Clapham North man will be hoping Cadwell is an opportunity to add at least one more win to his 2025 eSports tally, on a circuit that he appears enthusiastic to tackle.

Fourth place is separated by just one point between Jack Noller and Thomas Merritt respectively, with Noller experiencing that winning feeling in the reverse top 10 race at Brands Hatch while Merritt showed great form on the GP circuit chasing double winner Dennison in the first two encounters that night. Noller will also have a goal of more victories, and Merritt must surely be on the cusp of his first too.

Just behind them in sixth is Isaac Doble, who has a couple of rostrum appearances to his name so far but mixed fortunes since the start of the campaign. A little more consistency will be one of Isaac’s hopes in the final two events, so whether Cadwell’s winding turns will provide any remains to be answered.

In the rest of the top ten, there’s an interesting four way dance brewing between Benjy Douglas, Tom Griffiths, Tom Monhemius and Ari Barker. Like those above, the quartet have had their own share of ups and down across the first three meetings. Douglas is searching for a result that matches or betters a fourth place at Navarra, Griffiths will have ground to make up after missing Brands Hatch, Monhemius will want to break into the top ten more, and Barker is another searching to improve on early season form. He is also the better of the two Northbrook Racing drivers with team leader Richard Jepp currently mid-table.

With Dennison potentially absent, Kendall and co will have their sights firmly set on the top step of the podium as they take to the virtual Lincolnshire circuit. Whether or not they take full advantage of the opportunity or struggle on Cadwell’s tight confines is a scenario ready to be played out tonight.
