BRSCC LAUDS SUCCESSFUL 2019 AUTOSPORT INTERNATIONAL SHOW

The British Racing & Sports Car Club enjoyed four incredibly fruitful days this past week at the Autosport International Racing Car Show at the NEC in Birmingham, as the 2019 season began in fine style.

Situated in Hall 2 on Stand 2180, The Club’s larger stand was able to accommodate 12 cars spanning a wide range of the extensive portfolio of championships and series the BRSCC oversees. Headlining the roster was a brand new Hyundai i30 N TCR representing the TCR UK Touring Car Championship, with cars and personnel also representing the likes of the Mazda MX-5 SuperCup, Fiesta Championship, BMW Compact Cup, Avon Tyres Formula Fords and more.

Competitors, both existing and prospective, used the Show as an opportunity to declare their plans for the upcoming season as well as register for their chosen championships, with many from the BRSCC’s own roster doing just that. The Mazda MX-5 Championship left the exhibition with over 30 drivers signed up in total, while others such as the Compact Cup, Civic Cup and Alfa Romeo Championship also received high numbers of interest, bringing the premise of bigger grids in each even closer by the time their respective opening weekends roll around.

In addition, the launch of a brand new website allowed for all those interested in the Club’s activities at any level a chance to experience a faster, smarter and simpler site to browse, utilise and navigate, becoming a true information hub for all those interested. All in all, the stand was regularly populated with interested attendees with a genuine interest in the Club and its portfolio.

With the addition of both the Ferrari Challenge Trofeo Pirelli UK and the W Series to the portfolio, as well as changes to elements of a selection of championships including the new Superpole qualifying format for the Caterham 420R Championship, a reshaped class structure in the Fiesta Championship and a new Sport Boxster Class in the Porsche Championship, all in all it should be another sensational year of club motorsport. Thanks to everyone who came by the stand and we look forward to seeing you at a racetrack somewhere soon!
