BRSCC TOUCHES DOWN AT SILVERSTONE GP FOR 2025 SEASON OPENER
The winter is over. Spring has bloomed and while the temperatures haven’t quite risen much more just yet, it’s surely set to rise this weekend. The British Racing & Sports Car Club locks in to begin another new season for 2025, and where better to kick off proceedings than at the home of British motorsport. Silverstone’s full GP circuit will host another exciting mix of sprint and endurance races to get a new campaign underway.
The opening Silverlake C1 Endurance Series race of 2025 will feature more than 45 teams lining up for their first long distance test of the year. With the return of the 24 Hour race on this very circuit in a couple of months, this is the perfect warm-up to refine strategy and tactics ahead of going twice around the clock again in less than two months. Expect regular teams such as Trojon Motorsport, Emax Motorsport, CSC Racing, Silverlake, JW Bird Motorsport and BPC Motorsport to bring multi-squad entries and be amongst the contenders for victory.

The day before the C1s, the opening PBS Brakes SuperSport Endurance Cup race of the season takes place, set to welcome a 30+ car entry on the full GP circuit. Looking through the grid, there’s the usual excellent mix of machinery. From a near complete sweep of BMWs in the top class of Pro-A, through Audi TTs, Lotus Elises, Mazda MX-5s and Renault Clios, all the way to the defending overall champions Adam Read and David Drinkwater’s BMW Compact back to win their class for a third time. Plenty of strategy and intrigue will feature within this two hour contest.

As usual, there’s a solid number of entries found in the BRSCC’s ever popular Mazda MX-5 paddock. Both Mk1 championships share a grid in both races on Saturday, with the Kent Models Mazda MX-5 Championship running their third race the next day. In said championship, two-time vice champ Adam Sparrow goes into 2025 as the initial favourite, but the curious return of 2023 champion Steve Foden this weekend could throw a spanner in the works, providing he’s in for the full calendar. If so, both will be guaranteed title contenders, as are sure to be Will Chadwick, Ali Bray, Neil Chisnall, Pete Smith and Harry Storer to name a few. This could turn out to be an intense contest.

Over in the Clapham North MOT Mazda MX-5 Clubman Championship, there’s plenty of potential for Jonny Greensmith’s title defence to also attract some interesting adversaries. Greensmith would love to start 2025 in better fashion than last year when he had to spend the rest of the campaign playing catch up. If he does begin trouble-free, he’ll expect to find the likes of Jack Warry, Del and Jake Paice, Jamie Turner, Beau Parry and possibly even BMW Compact Cup convert Matt Flowers chasing his tail.

An interesting contest is also sure to take place within the Clapham North MOT Mazda MX-5 SuperCup, which is sure to bring strong competition in both the Pro and Club classes. Will Blackwell-Chambers looks to be one of the initial favourites in Pro, the 2022 class champion hoping to add a second SuperCup crown to his racing CV, but he’s sure to be put under pressure from the outset by the likes of Ollie Hall, Thomas Langford (stepping up from winning the 2024 MX- 5 Championship title), George Grant and Alistair Dendy.

The Demon Tweeks Audi TT Cup Racing Championship enjoyed an excellent first season as a fully fledged championship in 2024, and now goes into 2025 looking to build on that and put on an equally exciting spectacle. Both 2024 champion Bradley Burns and vice champion Matt Luff have returned for more glory, as have many of the drivers from the top ten standings, including Ross Makar, Luke Handley, Will Stacey and more. Also be sure to look out for young guns like Sam Heading and Joe Weaver and experienced racers like newcomer Jordan Stilp, making this a talent-stacked grid that’s sure to entertain.

Adding to an already well supported formulae roster is a brand new series to the BRSCC which is sure to inspire plenty of fast competition. The BRSCC Pro Sports Sprint series has been created to provide a home at the club for fast and exciting purpose built race cars, including GTs, high-level challenge and cup cars, touring cars, sports cars and more. The inaugural trio of races kick off this weekend with some superb variety on this first grid, including a Lamborghini Huracan Super Trofeo, an Ariel Atom Cup, a Porsche 911 991.2 Cup car and two Ginetta G55s amongst the entry.

Be sure to watch every single second of this weekend’s season opening weekend of racing LIVE via the BRSCC YouTube channel on both days!
