BRSCC UPDATE ON EURO RACE WEEKEND
In light of the recent announcement from the Netherlands regarding the further suspension of all public events until September 1st, the BRSCC confirms that our previously scheduled Euro Race Weekend at Circuit Park Zandvoort on July 11-12 2020 will not be taking place.
The announcement was made by the Prime Minister of the Netherlands, Mark Rutte, on Tuesday, who stated that the prohibition of public events including professional sports and music festivals, would be extended for an additional three months in a bid to further suppress the spread of the COVID-19 virus throughout the country.
As such, this means that the scheduled event at Zandvoort now cannot take place, and therefore will have an effect on the calendars of the four Caterham Motorsport championships (Roadsport, 270R, 310R and 420R) and the Production GTi Championship, all of which were due to compete that weekend, as well as the Caterham Graduates series and the recently announced Mazda MX-5 International Challenge.
While this is disappointing, the health, safety and well-being of competitors and the general public must come first in these unprecedented times. The BRSCC will work closely with Circuit Park Zandvoort to discuss a potential rearranged date in the future.
The BRSCC will continue to provide updates as and when possible on further developments regarding the 2020 season as it closely monitors the advice provided by the UK Government and Motorsport UK. In the meantime, please do all you can to ensure you remain safe and well during this period.
