DENNISON EXTENDS BRSCC CLAPHAM NORTH WINTER ESPORTS LEAD AT CADWELL PARK

James Dennison took a step closer to the 2025 BRSCC Clapham North Winter eSports Series crown after putting another impressive evening of racing last time out, at the most recent rounds at Cadwell Park in Lincolnshire.

Dennison was originally not scheduled to be competing on the night, but a late change in circumstances allowed James to take to the grid by the time the event got underway. His strong form continued into qualifying, claiming pole position by less than a tenth of a second from key rival Matt Kendall, perching both drivers on the front row together once more. Will Blackwell-Chambers and Nathan Williams made up row two ahead of Jack Noller and Benjy Douglas, while Thomas Merritt and Joe Moss completed the fourth row.

As Dennison led away from pole as race one began, the Clapham North pair of Kendall and Blackwell-Chambers initially went side by side over second place, the former keeping the place as Will slipped behind Williams for fourth before the end of lap one. Dennison was 1.2 seconds out in front after the opening lap and continued to command the race from the front with ease as the rest of the pack gave chase.

The lead gap ebbed and flowed by a few tenths here and there as the race progressed, but by the end it was Dennison who was in front at the flag by just shy of three seconds to add another victory to his series tally with Kendall minimising the damage with second place. Nathan Williams secured an excellent third place, while Blackwell-Chambers pulled off a bold but incredible last lap pass on Jack Noller at The Mountain to snatch fourth place, also opening the door for Thomas Merritt to pick up P5 in the process. Jack Noller, Joe Moss, Jon Pethick, Tom Griffiths and Ben Williams made up the second half of the top ten.

Dennison once again picked up where he’d left off when race two began, quickly escaping from the cars behind to command the race in P1. An excellent start from Williams gave him second for the opening laps, but he and Kendall would come together heading towards The Mountain sending Nathan spinning off into the grass and down the field to seventh.

This put the Clapham North pair second and third, but Blackwell-Chambers slipped behind Merritt not long after, but a failed last lap move into The Hairpin saw Joe Moss power through to take the last podium spot behind Kendall. Blackwell-Chambers still took fourth ahead of Nathan Williams, followed by Merritt, Ben Williams, Griffiths, Tom Monhemius and Ari Barker.

Barker’s P10 gave him top ten reverse pole for race three and led the opening lap, but lost out to both Monhemius and Griffiths and was then spun out at The Hairpin by Nathan Williams, all before lap two. All of this helped Blackwell-Chambers move up to second and set off after leader Monhemius, and just after the half way mark the top two were nose to tail as Will applied the pressure to Tom.

In another gutsy move, Blackwell-Chambers somehow found space on the inside of Chris Curve and squeezed through into the lead, leaving Monhemius to deal with pressure from Ben Williams and Kendall over the remaining podium spots. Blackwell-Chambers was untroubled for the remainder of the encounter, collecting a second win of the season in fine style. Monhemius did indeed hold on for his best eSports result to date with P2, while Kendall’s cause for P3 was made easier when Ben Williams dropped a wheel on the grass over The Mountain and spun into the barriers. Points leader Dennison battled to fourth ahead of Douglas, with the rest of the top ten filled out by Pethick, Ben Williams, Pete Smith, Chris Etheridge and Merritt.

The finale on the Silverstone GP circuit will see Dennison and Kendall go head to head for the season three title – who will come out on top? Make sure you tune in to find out!
