DOOHAN ON TOP ON DAY 2 OF BRITISH F4 TESTING

CATEGORIES:

Jack Doohan and Arden set the pace on day two of official testing at Croft for the F4 British Championship certified by FIA – powered by Ford EcoBoost.

Having missed out on topping day one of the test by 0.006s, Doohan went one better on the final day at the 2.125-mile North Yorkshire track.

Just as he had done on day one, he recorded the quickest time of anybody in the morning session with a lap of 1m 20.801s. On this occasion however it proved unbeaten for the remainder of the day’s running, albeit by a very small margin as Dennis Hauger lapped within 0.003s of his Arden team-mate in the afternoon.

Johnathan Hoggard (Fortec Motorsports) recorded the fourth fastest time to split the Double R pair of Paavo Tonteri and Kiern Jewiss in the combined classification for Tuesday.

Tonteri and Jewiss’ Tuesday efforts, as well as Hauger’s, ensured that the trio joined Ayrton Simmons, Doohan and Hoggard in the 1m 20s bracket. The six drivers separated by little more than a couple of tenths over two days.

No driver was able to better the time recorded by Simmons on day one – a lap of 1m 20.727s. The championship leader was not in attendance for the second day of testing, along with JHR Developments team-mate Josh Skelton, as well as Jamie Sharp (Sharp Motorsport) and Christian Lester (Rosso Verde Racing).

Behind Jewiss on the Tuesday timesheets could be found Arden’s Sebastian Priaulx and Patrik Pasma. Priaulx the only driver to hit a century of laps.

Hampus Ericsson (Fortec Motorsports) and Sebastian Alvarez (Double R Racing) wound up eighth and ninth. Meanwhile, JHR Developments’ Manuel Sulaiman spent a significant chunk of the afternoon session at the top of the times and denied Fortec Motorsports’ Lucca Allen a spot in the top 10.

Attention now turns to this weekend (9/10 June), when the next rounds of the F4 British Championship certified by FIA – powered by Ford EcoBoost will take place at Oulton Park.
