JAMES HEDLEY JOINS FORCES WITH FORTEC MOTORSPORT FOR 2021 SEASON

Fortec Motorsport have confirmed James Hedley will join their line-up ahead of the 2021 F4 British Championship certified by FIA – powered by Ford EcoBoost season.

The 17-year-old from Poole, Dorset, is set to contest a second season in Britain’s FIA Formula 4 series after an impressive debut campaign in 2020.

Hedley, who continues with the support of long-term backers Hendy Group, stood on the top step of the podium on four occasions – including a memorable hat-trick on ‘home turf’ at Thruxton.

The BRDC Rising star also scored four pole positions and fastest laps apiece, along with another three podium finishes to cement his reputation as one of the UK’s rising single-seater stars.

Now, Hedley will join forces with reigning champions Fortec as he signals his intent to put together a full championship challenge in his sophomore year.

In remaining on the BTCC support package, Hedley’s races will be screened live and free-to-air on ITV4, and capacity trackside crowds are expected, when the current government restrictions allow.

“I’m delighted to announce that I’ll be joining the reigning champions Fortec Motorsport in British F4,” said Hedley.

“After an unlucky season last year, I have some unfinished business this year and I can’t wait to get started at my home track at Thruxton in less than a fortnight.

“We have the budget to start the season and hopefully my results will attract more sponsors along the way. A massive thanks to my loyal sponsor Hendy Group for their continued support.”

Fortec’s F4 Team Manager Ollie Dutton paid tribute to Hedley’s recent track record and looks forward to working with him in the season ahead.

“It’s fantastic to be able to unveil James as a Fortec driver ahead of the new British F4 season,” said Dutton.

“His performances last year were very impressive; between that and his Ginetta Junior title the year prior, it’s clear he has a lot of potential.

“Driver development is something we put front and centre in our programmes, so it’ll be great to work with James on taking that next step and try to put a championship bid together.

“He’s clicked really well with the whole team, and new team-mates Joel and Ollie, during winter testing so far, and I’m looking forward to seeing what we can achieve.”

The 2021 season begins at the high-speed Thruxton Circuit in Hampshire on 08-09 May.
