JOSH PRICE JOINS TCR UK GRID FOR KNOCKHILL

CATEGORIES:

Josh Price has announced that he will enter the second round of the TCR UK series at Knockhill on May 12th/13th, driving the Honda Civic TCR car formerly owned by Finlay Crocker.

The news means the 19-year old will rekindle a friendly rivalry with the other teenager competing in the TCR UK championship, as both Price and Lewis Kent (Hyundai i30 N TCR) used to battle against each other in karts.

After starting his racing career with a victory in his very first event, Price worked his way up the karting ladder, including winning the British Kart Grand Prix and the Rotax International Open Championship. Josh then moved to the Renault Clio Cup in 2015 and took his maiden victory in the category the following year. A move into Touring Cars followed in 2017, making Price one of the youngest drivers in the history of the British Touring Car Championship.

Josh’s announcement means he joins a number of current or former British Touring Car drivers in tackling rounds of the inaugural TCR UK championship, including Daniel Lloyd, the winner of both races at Silverstone, and the Laser Tools Racing pairing of Aiden Moffat and Derek Palmer Jnr.

The car will be run under the BMR Autoglym Academy banner, which sees Autoglym extending its support for the BMR Academy. Several of the BMR team’s personnel will be present at Knockhill, where their experience in setting up and running a Touring Car will be invaluable.

Josh Price said: “I watched the opening round at Silverstone and the fact that we’d already got a TCR car meant it was an easy decision to do Knockhill. It’ll be great to see Lewis again, and I’m also looking forward to competing against Aiden Moffat and the others. I’m not making any predictions, but the racing at Silverstone looked to be pretty close and I’m excited to be joining TCR UK for one of the early rounds.”

Jen Mouratsing, TCR UK Championship Manager, added: “We’re delighted to welcome Josh to TCR UK and we hope that his weekend with us will whet his appetite to increase his involvement in the championship in the weeks and months to come.”
