LASER TOOLS RACING CONFIRMS MOFFAT FOR TCR UK
Laser Tools-backed BTCC race winner Aiden Moffat has today confirmed that he will be entering the 2018 TCR UK championship with the series starting at Silverstone over the Easter weekend.
Laser Tools Racing will be running two of the striking Alfa Romeo Giulietta TCR cars, which are built in Milan by Romeo Ferraris. Laser’s driver Aiden Moffat will be spear-heading the team’s assault on the championship and ex- BTCC driver Derek Palmer Jnr will be driving the second car.
The young Scottish driver is enthusiastic; Aiden said: ‘I briefly tested the car in Italy some months ago and I’m happy that we will be running the Alfa — it really is a very good car. It’s exciting that I’ve been asked to take part in the very first TCR Championship in the UK and am confident that I can do really well for the team.’
Laser Tools Racing Team Principal Bob Moffat commented: ‘These are exciting times for Aiden, and for Laser Tools Racing. We are mounting a serious challenge for the TCR UK championship trophy and are delighted to be retaining the services of Aiden’s race engineer Federico Turrata of Hexathron Racing Systems, who already have extensive experience in the international TCR Series. ‘
I’d also like to thank Derek Palmer Snr for all his help with this and for his valuable liaison with Romeo Ferraris in Italy.’
Laser Tools Racing was formed at the beginning of 2014 initially to contest the BTCC with Aiden Moffat. Aiden had made his series debut the year before when he was the youngest ever competitor in the championship’s history. With Laser Tools Racing Aiden’s career has gone from strength to strength and he scored two race victories plus additional podiums in the 2017 season. He fully intends to extend his tally of race wins in this year’s TCR UK series.
