MA5DA CHAMPIONS DECIDED AT CROFT
Congratulations to Tom Roche, Luke Herbert and Kevin Dengate who secured the respective Ma5da Mk1, Mk3 and MX150-R titles at the Darlington & District Motor Club’s Croft meeting last weekend.
A hat-trick of wins was enough for Welshman Tom Roche to take the MX5 Championship ahead of James Blake-Baldwin and Adam Gore. It was also Tom’s third time as champion having won previously in 2009 and 2011. The other MK1 race winners at Croft were Adam Gore, Richard Puddle and Brett Smith.
One race win in the MX5 Cup for Mk3s was enough for Luke Herbert to be confirmed as champion, despite a brace of wins from nearest rival and second place man Jordan Stilp. This is a well-deserved triumph for the Chichester driver who came a very close second to Rob Boston in the 2011 MX5 Cup. The 2009 Formula Ford Festival winner Chrissy Palmer was third in the final points table.
There were three different winners in the MX150-R races, who raced together with the Mk3s. The spoils were shared by Jamie Ingram, Stewart Mutch and Kevin Dengate, the latter securing the inaugural MX150-R title. Dengate celebrated by winning the one-hour Ma5da Enduro race, which featured entries across all three categories.
In the Logson Group Porsche Championship double-header, there were a brace of wins for both Steven Brown and Simon Hawksley in the Class B Boxsters and 924’s respectively. Meanwhile, in the main Boxster class, Ric Styrin and Gerry Taylor shared the honours, taking a win and second place each. The battle for the title now goes right down to the wire at Donington Park next month.
