MORGAN CLOSES IN ON MIGHTY MINI TITLE

CATEGORIES:

The Mighty Minis bandwagon rolls into Oulton Park tomorrow, Saturday 12th September, for another BRSCC North Western Centre meeting and it is one that could see Chris Morgan take an unassailable lead in the race for the title.

The Somerset based driver holds a 12 point lead over nearest rival James Lyford so if things go his way Chris could be celebrating tomorrow night. It would also be a triumph for Paul Inch Engines who prepare Morgan’s car. However, Paul Inch also runs his daughter Louise in the championship and she is not out of the title race just yet. In the senior class of the championship Ben Seyfried and David Kirkpatrick are locked in a battle for the Super Mighty Mini title so with just one race left after Oulton every point counts.

Oulton regulars will keeping a close eye on the equally tight battle at the top of the points table in the Creative LED Solutions Club Formula Ford North West Pre 90 Championship where stalwarts Nigel Thompson and Ian Parkington are separated by just 6 points.

There is more single seater action in the shape of the BRSCC Cardinus Formula 3 Championship who have a double header. Morecombe’s Chris Needham will be hoping to take advantage of the absence of leader Damien Charveriat, who is racing at the Silverstone LMS event.

Also enjoying a double header will be the Alfashop Alfa Romeo Championship which sees one of the strongest Alfa entries this season, 26 cars in total. Overall honours are never decided until the final round but there will be fierce battles in each class as drivers strive to get an advantage to take to Silverstone.

Yet another impressive gird of 25 cars will line up in the LMA Euro Saloon & Sports Car Championship but all the attention will be on Brett Walter and Peter Challis who are separated by just two points once the dropped scores are taken into account.

Another of the local favourites is the BRS Recovery Ford XR Challenge. Simon Robinson leads arch rival Mike Blackburn by just thirteen points in the XR2 class. In the XR3 category Marcus Riley really needs a win if he is stop stop leader Chris Flynn from claiming the title.
