NANKANG TYRE BECOMES CITY CAR CUP TITLE SPONSOR FOR 2021

The British Racing and Sports Car Club is delighted to announce that Nankang Tyre UK have agreed to become title sponsor of the Nankang Tyre CityCar Cup Championship for the 2021 inaugural championship season.  

From the very first time a CityCar Cup race car took to the circuit, it became clear to everyone involved that the choice of using Nankang’s 165/50R15 NS-2R tyre was a match made in heaven! The tyres performed impeccably on that first test, and have continued to do so through the 2020 CityCar Cup launch and development season. 

On the news of Nankang Tyre UK committing to become title sponsors of the championship for its first full season, BRSCC Head of Formulae Development Greg Graham said, “Although we expected to have to try a couple of alternative tyre brands on the CityCar cup cars as we were developing them, we cancelled that idea after our very first circuit outing. The NS-2R tyres provided by Nankang Tyre UK did absolutely everything expected of them and more! To now have Nankang Tyre on board as our title sponsor for our first championship season is an absolute privilege” 

Jamie Smith, Head of Motorsport, Media & Marketing at Nankang Tyre UK added, “Over many years now we’ve built a great relationship with the BRSCC, and when we were approached to discuss providing tyres for their new CityCar Cup series, we had no hesitation in becoming involved. Through evaluation of wheel dimensions and tyre types and sizes, we suggested trying our 165/50R15 NS-2R on the car at the first test session. It didn’t take long for it to became obvious that the performance and durability of the tyre suited the car perfectly.  

With the CityCar Cup Championship already looking like it might become one of the most popular saloon car circuit racing of 2021, we were keen to commit to offering our support as title sponsors. We’re also looking forward to seeing our own fully branded Nankang Tyre CityCar Cup race car on circuit too!” 

Also reacting to the news, CityCar Cup Championship Coordinator Lyndsay Close commented, “Through speaking regularly to CityCar Cup drivers, they are all delighted with the way the Nankang Tyres work on their cars, and the value for money they provide as well. It’s fantastic news that Nankang have agreed to become title sponsors for our first Championship season, and we’ll certainly try to deliver the best possible racing in response!”
