New Classic Mini Racing Events Confirmed
The British Racing & Sports Car Club (BRSCC) is pleased to confirm two standalone race events this season in support of the growing interest surrounding a new driver-led initiative — Classic Mini Racing.
Scheduled for Brands Hatch on Saturday 16 August and Silverstone National on 27/28 September, these events aim to bring together current Mini competitors, returning drivers, and cars that may have been inactive in recent seasons.
Classic Mini Racing is an emerging concept driven by teams and drivers seeking a fresh, inclusive, and value-focused platform for classic-shape Mini race cars. With early momentum building, these 2025 dates offer a chance to test the water and welcome anyone who wants to get involved.
Both events will run as standalone, non-championship races and are open to suitably prepared Minis. Entry is set at a one-off fee of £425, with drivers benefiting from the BRSCC’s experienced organisational support and a welcoming paddock atmosphere.

The invitation races will be split into two classes:
- Class 1– For cars built to the current technical specification used in the Mighty Minis Championship. (This class is intended to accommodate vehicles that conform to those existing prep standards.)
- Open Class– Open to classic-shape Minis running a 1275cc A+ engine and prepared to alternative specifications. (This includes cars with minor variations that remain in keeping with the spirit of the grid.) Tyre brand is free; however, slicks and cut slicks are not permitted.
“We’ve been approached by a number of teams and drivers looking for a platform that reflects their values and passion for Mini racing,” said Paul McErlean, BRSCC Chief Operations Officer. “We’re pleased to provide an opportunity to preview this concept through two events, and to see where the interest takes it — all while keeping the focus on fun, fairness and great racing. If we see strong support for these invitation races, the BRSCC will commit to developing a full Classic Mini Racing programme for 2026 and beyond.”
