Our busy North Western Centre make their final visit of the season to Oulton Park tomorrow for a five race schedule featuring the FunCup and the Avon Tyres Formula Ford 1600 Northern Championship.
It is the season finale for the Formula Fords – and the close, competitive racing that has been enjoyed all season sees both the Post-89 and Pre-90 titles come down to the final double header meeting of the year. In the Post-89 category, five drivers can potentially still lift the crown at Oulton tomorrow. American Skylar Robinson currently heads the table but he will be absent, as will James Raven and Austin Kimberly. Therefore, it looks like a straight shoot-out between David McArthur and Blackburn’s Martin Short. In Pre-90, three competitors are still in the title chase, with Chris Hodgen heading Jaap Blijleven and Jamie Jardine in the standings. All three will be signing-on at Oulton in the morning so it should be quite a battle!
In addition to the all-important title outcomes, tomorrow’s meeting also sees the inaugural awarding of the Wallpaper Central sponsored FF1600 Autumn Challenge, with perpetual trophies for the top performers in both Post-89 and Pre-90.
The FunCup season concludes with a 4-hour race and the Team Racelogic trio of Julian Thomas, Joachim Ritter and Nigel Greensall will be looking to carry-on where they left off at Anglesey two weeks ago. In both 3-hour races over the Anglesey weekend Racelogic were never in the lead until the last 15 minutes of each race.
The Nimbus Data team and the Team O’BR’s car 207 were the cars that suffered the most at the hands of Racelogic, so both teams will be doubly keen to exact revenge at Oulton, it also being their last chance to do so this season.
