PURRING PORSCHES GET READY FOR OULTON
This year's Class A Boxsters have sprouted a front splitter and rear wing as part of an all-new aero package
While two of our Toyo Tires Porsche championship winners (Rick Styrin and Linda Warren) may have moved on, a raft of new and returning drivers will swell our ranks for this season and competition will be fierce at the front.
Last year's coordinator Chris Valentine moved from the PDA to Britcar to do longer races – including the Silverstone 24 hour, which he will again contest next weekend. But after having only done one race last year and missing being on the grid, he has decided to try a 924 and joins Team Moluto alongside Ryan Lowry, Bernie Printy and self-styled "SAGA Stig"
Philip Waters.
Steve Potts returns to us having bought, shared and now moved on from an Austin A35 with David Jones for a season of historic racing. 'Pottsy's claim to fame is having shared his A35 with David Coulthard at the Goodwood Revival last year. Jones himself is also looking to do some races with us this year. Peter Smith is eyeing a full season in Class C, together with ex-Production Boxster champion Michael Goodacre, and racing newbie Andrew Pritchard, who happens to be Chairman of the 924 Owner’s Club and a great friend of Karl Rossin, who will be in a new car, built with help from past 924 champion Alastair Kirkham.
For his first season in rear drive cars, and coming from two successful seasons in the BRSCC Ford Fiesta Championship, from Borough Green in Kent we welcome Andy Mollison. He too has endurance experience, with podiums at both Barcelona and Paul Ricard in the FIA 24H Series with Preptech UK, the team who are currently building his Class A Boxster.
Adam Southgate, an Engineer with Jaguar Land Rover and having started with us as a student in a 924, took time out from our Boxsters to get married but returns this year to challenge the likes of Ed Hayes and Richard Avery for Class A podiums. PDA chairman Nick Hull moves from a
987 to a new-build 986 and will likely join Kevin Molyneaux and Garry Goodwin in challenging for more silverware in 2017.
Our Class A “race spec” Boxsters will, for the first time, be sporting an aero package of rear wing and front splitter, separating them further from the Class B “Production” Boxsters, where we see Andy Baker back for more, having enjoyed his time with us last year.
