The BRSCC is pleased to confirm that they will be behind the organisation of this year’s annual Plum Pudding Race Day at Mallory Park on Boxing Day, or Monday December 26th 2016 to be exact.
An event that’s become something of a tradition for those local to the Leicestershire circuit, it gives competitors who love to race on two, three or four wheels a chance to work off the Christmas turkey in a slightly more unique way than normal! Whilst those who love to race bikes and sidecars will have races to cater to their tastes, a pair of races each will be run for sports cars and also saloons respectively. This is very much an allcomers, “run-what-ya-brung” type affair. Quite simply, if you have a saloon or sportscar, get yourself on the grid for two 15 minute encounters. First person past the flag on each occasion wins, nothing more, nothing less. Simple!
The way this works, however, is a little different to any other race meeting. This is because although you will still have a regular practice session, there is no qualifying on the day to determine the grid, nor is it chosen by a random draw. Instead, your grid position is set by the order of entries received. So that means if you end up becoming the first car to enter your respective category, you start on pole position for your first race! The grid for the second will then be a reverse of the result from Race 1, so if you win you start at the back and so on.
If you fancy going for one last blast before the year is out, then be sure to download an entry form HERE and submit it as quickly as you can if you want to be as high up on the grid as possible. The race, in essence, has already begun as you’re all duelling for pole position without the need to set a laptime! The entry fee for the two races is £125 and is open to all current members of a wide range of racing clubs.
Go on, treat yourself to an extra Christmas present and get out on track for the festive season. Who knows, you may even get a trophy as an extra little something for your troubles. We’ll see you there!
