SLAGHEKKE SETS THE PACE
Three races – three different winners! There could not have been a better way to begin the Dunlop MSA Formula Ford Championship of Great Britain for 2011 than the superbly exciting trio of races held over the weekend at the BRSCC Midland Centre’s meeting on the Silverstone National circuit. Dutch driver Jeroen Slaghekke leads the points standings thanks to a win – his first – and a podium finish on Sunday, with Australian Geoff Uhrhane in close pursuit after he scored his first UK race win in the final event of the weekend in his Duratec-powered Mygale. The weekend started well for last year’s championship runner-up, Scott Malvern, who scored a dramatic victory in the opening round on his debut in one of Jamun Racing’s Mygales. However, that proved to be the highlight for Scott as his fortunes tailed-off rapidly with two DNFs in rounds two and three. In the Scholarship class, 17-year-old Cavan Corcoran claimed a hat-trick of class victories on his debut in the championship at the wheel of his Getem prepared Mygale SJ07.
