TEAMWORK MOTORSPORT CONSIDERING TCR UK ENTRY FOR 2019

CATEGORIES:

Hong Kong-based Teamwork Motorsport has revealed that the team is considering an entry in the second season of TCR UK. The news follows the success of Swedish outfit WestCoast Racing in the 2018 championship, in which it secured both the Drivers’ and Teams’ titles and underlines the ease with which a team can enter TCR championships around the world.

Teamwork Motorsport, originally formed in 1999 under the name China Dragon Racing, has been hugely successful in Touring Car racing in the Far East. It has won the Macau Touring Car Cup eight times and clinched the 2018 TCR China title with drivers Alex Hui and Sunny Wong. Teamwork also has a strong record of working with international drivers, including Rob Huff, Colin Turkington, Adam Morgan and Jean-Karl Vernay.

So far in 2019, the team has contested the new TCR Malaysia series, in which Rob Huff finished second in the opening race at Sepang in a Volkswagen Golf GTI. In addition, the team’s Audi RS3 LMS car finished sixth in the TCE class at the 24H Dubai race in January, which marked Teamwork’s debut in Endurance racing.

Reigning TCR China champion Alex Hui attended the Oulton Park round of the TCR UK championship last year and, as the team’s technical staff includes engineers who work with front-running teams such as WestCoast, Craft-Bamboo and Cyan Racing, they expect to be able to put together a competitive package.

Team Principal Pau Hui said: “We’ll soon decide which championships to enter. TCR Asia, China and the UK championships are all ones we’re considering, because we believe the competition will be on the right level in all those series.

“Also, as Teamwork Motorsport has a very strong network of engineers and teams in Europe, we can collaborate with local resources if we did enter the TCR UK championship and the budget will still be on target.”
