WEST COAST RACING CONFIRMS 3 CARS FOR TCR UK AT KNOCKHILL

Following a stunning performance by the WestCoast Racing team at the first round of the TCR UK championship at Silverstone, in which Daniel Lloyd won both races and Andreas Bäckman finished second in Race 2, the Swedish team has confirmed that it will field all three of its Volkswagen Golf GTI cars at the series’ next round at Knockhill this weekend.

Thanks to those results, and the fact that Andreas’ sister Jessica also finished both races in the points, the team left Silverstone with a lead of 88 points over Pyro Motorsport in the Teams’ championship, while Dan Lloyd leads the Drivers’ championship by 25 points from Ollie Taylor.

The team will travel to Scotland after competing in the opening round of TCR Scandinavia at Sweden’s Ring Knutstorp at the weekend. The Volkswagen Golf driven by Dan at Silverstone was in the hands of Fredrik Ekblom in Knutstorp and all three cars will sport the team’s TCR Scandinavia livery when they appear at Knockhill.

James Nixon, WestCoast Racing team manager, commented: “Whilst the team’s focus is on TCR Scandinavia this year, we all agreed that we couldn’t just walk away from TCR UK after the first round. Both Andreas and Jessica are keen to repeat the kind of results they had at Silverstone and the extra seat time is a massive bonus for both of them. Dan is still looking for sponsorship to enable him to compete in further rounds, but we felt we really had to be in Knockhill to defend our lead in both championships.”
