After a successful season of competitive racing, the British Racing & Sports Car Club is pleased to confirm the return of its fourth Winter eSports Series.
The BRSCC ran its first official eSports competition across the winter of 2022/23, utilising the popular iRacing sim racing platform and featuring the Mazda MX-5 Global Cup Car with drivers competing across a range of mostly British circuits over six race events, culminating in a season finale at Laguna Seca in Monterey, California, USA. The first Winter eSports Series was deemed a success, with former BMW Compact Cup champion turned BTCC star Mikey Doble becoming the first BRSCC Winter eSports champion.
For the 2023/24 edition, the format and set-up was unchanged, with the Mazda MX-5 Global race car again selected as the car of choice. William Chadwick, Matt Kendall and Mikey Doble battled throughout the season, demonstrating strong performances. However, it was Mazda MX-5 Championship driver William Chadwick who clinched the overall title through consistent high placements, becoming the second BRSCC Winter eSports champion.
The 2025 edition saw a change in car with the BMW M2 released on iRacing. A four-way title battle unfolded with James Dennison, Matt Kendall, Will Blackwell-Chambers, and Thomas Meritt locked season long brawl for supremacy. Momentum swung wildly from round to round as each driver delivered standout performances. But in the end it was ex SuperSport Endurance Cup Driver James Dennison who held his nerve, edging out his three rivals to become the third BRSCC Winter eSports champion.
With three unforgettable seasons now in the books, the stage is set for what promises to be the most explosive campaign yet as the 2026 Winter eSports Series roars into life. Five rounds at iconic British circuits will form the battleground, each offering its own challenges and opportunities for the growing grid of talent. This year sees the series revert back to the Mazda MX-5 Global Cup Car, guaranteeing close-quarters racing and slipstream battles from lights to flag, and with new drivers joining returning favourites, the fight for the title is wide open.
