MODIFIED FORDS SEES AVERAGE GRID SIZE INCREASE OF 31% IN 2022

After a highly successful first year with the club in 2021, the BRSCC looked forward to seeing what the Modified Ford Series could produce in 2022 to match it or even improve it. But perhaps not even series organiser Paul Nevill could have even foreseen just how much more popular his paddock would become, as he realised at the opening rounds at Silverstone back in March.

All throughout 2022, wherever the Modified Fords travelled across the UK, the grids were simply exceptional both in numbers and quality of machinery. The vast array of Ford Escorts, Fiestas, Sierras, Pumas, Focuses, Capris and more were a sight and sound to behold as cars of many shapes, sizes, and specifications populated their grids at each meeting.

Entry numbers never dropped below 22 cars, and mostly grid sizes were regularly over 30 cars, especially in the final two race weekends of the year at Brands Hatch when over 40 cars turned out in both, leading to competitors racing in two and even three groups respectively.

This proves how popular and enjoyable the Modified Ford Series paddock has become in such a short space of time and with an average grid size in 2022 of 34 cars, which was a 31% increase over 2021 – an astounding achievement for a relatively new series. All the signs point to the grids getting even bigger next year, with interest in the opening round of 2023 on the Silverstone GP circuit already attracting more than 50 cars provisionally! 😳

We say a hearty thank you and well done to both Paul Nevill and every single one of his drivers and teams that turned up on his grids throughout the year making the series another incredible BRSCC success story this year. You’ve quickly ensured the Modified Fords have become a firm fan favourite on any given weekend and we’re looking forward to seeing who and what turns out in force next year! 🏁

A big thank you also goes to all of the sponsors that supported Paul and the series across the season too – Scalextric, HT Racing, Drummond Distribution, PRG Trailers Ltd, Chase Metal Recycling & Part Worn/New Tyres, FURY AutoWorx, DWG Group , SHP Automotive and SVG Motorsport.
