SUPERB 2022 SEASON FOR CLUBSPORT TROPHY WITH BOOSTED AVERAGE GRID SIZE
Year on year since it began in 2019, the ever-vibrant BRSCC ClubSport Trophy has proven and remained hugely popular and well-subscribed. The dedicated 45-minute mini-endurance pit-stop race series has inspired a vast number of drivers and cars to compete against one another and while 2022 promised much, it sure did it deliver.
From the outset, every single grid was well subscribed with at least 30 cars turning up at majority of races. Undoubtedly the highlight and centrepiece of the 2022 ClubSport season was the support race to this year’s C1 Racing Club 24 Hours on the Silverstone GP circuit, where the record was set for the biggest ClubSport grid to date – an astounding 61 cars (as pictured within this selection)!
Through Snetterton, Silverstone, a first visit to Oulton Park, Brands Hatch and Donington, drivers continued to turn out in superb numbers and each race was as unique and entertaining as the last. The year was capped off again in terrific style by another support race to this year’s Race of Remembrance at Anglesey in November, which proved to be another memorable occasion with the usual great turnout too.
In fact, so good was the season for ClubSport, that Autosport recently calculated an average grid size of 35 cars throughout 2022, a 9% increase over the previous season’s number and one of the strongest average grids in the club’s portfolio.
Not only does it prove that the series continues to attract superb numbers on a consistent basis, but that the grid carries on welcoming new names, new faces and new cars. It’s still proving just as popular as it did all the way in its very first race in 2019 at Brands Hatch.
A massive thank you goes to Charlotte White for her dedicated and superb coordination of the series, as well as every single driver and team that lined up on the grid throughout 2022. The 2023 edition is once again looking just as immense and we’re anticipating bumper grids at every round once again!
