About the Fun Cup Endurance Championship

First conceived in Europe in 1997 and arriving in the UK in 2002, the Fun Cup Endurance Championship provides some of the best value endurance racing you’ll find both here and on the continent with identical cars and up to as much as 50 hours worth of driving time in an entire season.

All cars are equal, comprising of a tubular steel space frame chassis, identical silhouette style bodywork, a lightly tuned 1.8-litre VW/Audi, disc brakes all round and a 5-speed sequential gearbox, all designed to ensure any driver of any experience level can jump in and get up to speed quickly.

Race lengths typically range from 3 to 5 hours but can be longer or shorter. Most of 2024’s calendar features four hour races, with the exception of Anglesey’s 3 hour double header which features an “into the night” race, and two weekends featuring a 1 hour sprint followed by a three-hour finale, both at Croft and Oulton Park. All races feature mandatory pitstops for refuelling and driver changes to add to the strategy element of long-distance racing.

Don’t be fooled by the race lengths, as FunCup races are usually action packed from start to finish and by the chequered flag, victorious teams tend to succeed by just a couple of seconds after several hours of racing! A key example was the 2023 season finale at Oulton Park, where three teams went into the final race in contention for the title and the championship lead changed numerous times before the chequered flag!

Teams can comprise of anything between 2 and 6 drivers, making it easy to spread the costs of entry fees and allowing drivers to maximise the value of their track time in a number of ways, with a grid full of a diverse mixture of young and experienced drivers battling on track together at any one time. Not only is there a main class, but also a Masters class for more experienced drivers to compete for too.

Other attractive incentives include a £10,000 prize to any team of brand new drivers that win their debut Fun Cup Endurance race, dedicated championship hospitality and professionally produced TV and live stream coverage.
