OULTON PARK RACE DAY

14 August 2021 - 14 August 2021

Another race day at Oulton Park beckons for the BRSCC, which looks set to see the Cheshire circuit dominated by the endurance main event. There are also set to be some excellent supporting sprint races to make it an entertaining day’s racing all round.

Top of the ticket will be the first of two visits this year from the FunCup Endurance Championship, who usually begin their calendar here instead make their first trip to the circuit in the Summer. This is a proven favourite with all the drivers and teams in the paddock and every race that takes place here has been an absolute cracker, especially those at the end of the season which normally sees the title decided on more than one occasion. Being naturally narrow, passing at Oulton Park is trickier than first assumed as drivers will chase each other in close pack racing for the entire duration of the race. Despite the length, the action will be constant from start to finish all race, so don’t take your eyes off the track for a second as the race order could change in the blink of an eye. Plus, FunCup races regularly feature safety cars and close finishes, with winning margins of less than a second being a common occurrence.

This will be race meeting number five of 2021 for the Nankang Tyre CityCar Cup Championship, enjoy its first year as a points-scoring series since it was conceived last year. Oulton Park was one of the circuits initially chosen to develop the cars in their infancy and what started out as a three-car launch in June 2020 has now exploded into a registration list boasting almost 40 drivers – an incredible feat in what will have been not long over a year at this stage! The identical spec Citroen C1s, Peugeot 107s and Toyota Aygos in the field will be incredibly evenly matched, meaning that the racing is sure to be close, exciting and frantic – just the way a good tin-top series should be!

We know that those in the North West do love a Ford, and a fast one at that, and thankfully we have just the ticket to satisfy them in the form of the brilliant Modified Ford Series. The registration list of 2021 is positively overflowing with a mass of Ford models spanning some 40 years of the marque’s history, accomodating Fiestas, Sierras, Escorts, Capris, Focuses and Pumas as well as some more unique examples thrown in for good measure. We’re expecting a grid full to bursting here in Cheshire and the tight twists and turns of Oulton Park mean it’s going to be busy out on track!
