Providing a low-cost opportunity to get involved in endurance racing, the Silverlake C1 Racing Series has grown to become the best supported and biggest tin top endurance racing series in the UK.
With well over 200 race cars having been built since 2017, the one-make series shows no signs of letting up as it continues to welcome more and more drivers that want to experience long-distance racing on a value-for-money budget.
Utilising first-generation Citroen C1s, modifications are tightly controlled with none being allowed to engines or transmission. Various Club-supplied modified parts allow the cars to morph into exciting little racing machines, and the driving and racing experience keeps racers coming back year after year.
On-track competitors enjoy a selection of race formats, ranging from 3-hour single events, 3-hour or 6-hour double header meetings, 5-hour races, and then the big one – an annual UK racing highlight – the 24-hour race on the iconic Silverstone Grand Prix Circuit.
Such is the popularity of the Silverlake C1 Racing Series, the category made history in recent years for the largest-ever starting grid at Silverstone – 99 cars!
If you’ve not yet experienced C1 Endurance racing, don’t confuse low cost with low quality or low value. Many C1 race cars are built and run by top-end race teams, and the series has welcomed some very famous racing stars onto the grid over the seasons, such as Tom Ingram, Jade Edwards, Sir Chris Hoy, Andy Priaulx, Josh Cook, Alan Gow and Rob Austin to name but a few. The other main aspect of the series is that anyone with a valid race licence can get involved, and if the costs are split between a few drivers, then it is easy to get involved and offers awesome value for money racing!
